Video Audition

Helsinki Dance Festival Prix finals

You can audition for the Helsinki Dance Festival Prix finals through regional competitions or the video audition stage.

Video recording

The video must be taken in rehearsal clothes with make-up and hairstyle appropriate to the rehearsal situation. The video should be filmed in a dance studio or similar space (please make sure that no dance school logos or others are visible in the video). The jury will not look at recordings of a performance.

The video should be posted on Youtube (it can be a hidden video) and a link to the video must be provided in the application form.

Clothing

Ballet Prix, girls

Pink tights, ballet leotard, soft or pointe shoes according to the age of the applicant. Note! The variation in the video application phase must be danced with the same shoes as will be used in the semifinals. The dancer may wear a rehearsal tutu or skirt according to the style of the piece.

Terms and conditions

By participating in the video application phase, you agree to accept and pay the registration fee for a place in the finals, if offered. An invoice will be sent for any unpaid fees, with an additional office and billing fee of €30.

Live Stage, Open Stage and Pro Stage

You can audition for the Stages via the video audition phase.

Video recording

Clothing

We expect the clothing to be appropriate for the dance style presented in the audition video. Please avoid clothing that covers too much of your movement or makes it difficult for you to perform.

The video must show all possible props used in the performance. The character of the piece must remain the same, even if choreographic elements change after the audition phase is over. The number of dancers may change before the autumn performance.

Terms and conditions

If the work shown in the video does not meet the Stages criteria (e.g. length of the work or the conditions of filming), the jury is not obliged to view the video. Please check the criteria of the different Stages on their dedicated pages.
