Helsinki Dance Festival Prix

The Helsinki Dance Festival Prix consists of three competition divisions: the Ballet Prix, the Neoclassical Prix and the Contemporary Prix. You can compete as a soloist, part of a duo or group. There are age categories for dancers between 9-20 years old. 

The competition is divided into several rounds, the first of which is a regional competition or video audition. The jury will select a number of dancers to go on to the finals that are held annually.

The Helsinki Dance Festival Prix is a unique opportunity for young dancers to perform and compete with the best in the country. The jury will include a diverse group of internationally renowned dance professionals.

Helsinki Dance Festival Prix competitors get to also attend one workshop for no extra fees!

Regional competitions

Kuopio Prix and Karjaa Prix are regional competitions held by Helsinki Dance Festival Prix. They are a chance to qualify directly for the finals of the Helsinki Dance Festival Prix. The jury will have the opportunity to award fully and partially sponsored competition spots to the finals. All participants of the regional competitions may also video audition to the finals free of charge in the next official video audition phase. A workshop is included for all participants.


Ballet Prix

Ballet Prix is a competition that celebrates the beauty and grace of classical ballet. Our panel of esteemed judges includes some of the top ballet professionals in the world, ensuring that the competition is of the highest caliber.

Contemporary Prix

The Contemporary Prix is a competition that focuses on the exciting and innovative world of contemporary dance. This competition will showcase the talents of some of the most promising contemporary dancers from around the country. 

Neoclassical Prix

Neoclassical Prix gives an opportunity for talented dancers to compete in neoclassical ballet. Neoclassical ballet is a contemporary and refined form of ballet that blends traditional techniques with modern artistry. It's characterised by its fluidity, intricate movements, and the freedom for choreographers to infuse their unique style.
